Avdiivka

• The now-destroyed city of Avdiivka covers only some 12 square miles. But for the better part of a decade it carved a bulge in the front line that undermined crucial Russian logistical operations. It sits only a few miles from the city of Donetsk, which Russia has occupied since 2014.
• Avdiivka is situated in the Donetsk Oblast (province) of Ukraine, approximately 15 kilometers north of the regional capital, Donetsk. It lies close to the contact line that separates government-controlled territory from areas held by separatist forces.

Kreminna

• Kreminna is situated in the Luhansk Oblast, approximately 60 kilometers southeast of the regional capital, Luhansk. It lies close to the border with Russia and has been affected by the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine.
• Kreminna is known for its agricultural significance, with many residents engaged in farming and related activities. The town's economy also includes light industry and services.

Bakhmut

• Bakhmut is situated in the Donetsk Oblast, approximately 75 kilometers north of the regional capital, Donetsk. It lies close to the front lines of the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine.
