Context: The digital portal of the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) office in Pune was inaugurated by the Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation on August 6.

Details

  • The Ministry of Cooperation has been working towards enhancing the cooperative movement in the country with the motto of "Sahkar se Samridhi". As a part of this effort, the office of the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies is undergoing computerization to facilitate ease of doing business in the cooperative sector.
  • The Central Registrar Office is the authority that regulates the Multi-State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) in India. The MSCS Act, 2002 and its rules provide the legal framework for the registration and functioning of these societies. The office is undergoing a computerization project to create a digital platform for the MSCS and their stakeholders.

Main objectives of computerization

  • Eliminating the need for paper-based applications and processing will save time, money and resources, as well as reduce errors and delays.

  • Improving Analytics and MIS (Management Information Systems), which will provide better data and insights for decision-making and policy formulation, as well as monitoring and evaluation of the performance of the cooperative societies and the office.
