Recently, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has decided to start a ‘Chaupal’ like get-together for its personnel to vent their mental agony.
Chaupal is a popular meeting activity in the rural areas.
About CRPF:
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is India's largest Central Armed Police Force. It functions under the authority of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the Government of India.
It came into existence as the Crown Representative's Police on 27 July 1939.
After Indian Independence, it became the Central Reserve Police Force on enactment of the CRPF Act on 28 December 1949.
Duties performed by CRPF:
Crowd control
Riot control
Counter Militancy / Insurgency operations.
Dealing with Left Wing Extremism
Overall coordination of large scale security arrangement especially with regard to elections in disturbed areas.
Fighting enemy in the event of War.
Participating in UN peacekeeping Mission as per Govt. policy.
Rescue and Relief operations at the time of Natural Calamities and disasters
