Context: In a major boost to the dairy sector in India, the Union Minister of Heavy Industries launched the "Dugdh Sankalan Sathi Mobile App".

Dugdh Sankalan Sathi Mobile App

• It is developed by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
• It aims to provide a digital platform for dairy farmers, cooperatives, milk unions and processors to access real-time information and services related to milk procurement and quality testing.
• It will enable dairy farmers to register themselves with their nearest cooperative society or milk collection centre and receive timely information on milk price, fat content, payment details, animal health and breeding services, and other schemes and benefits offered by the government and NDDB.
• It will allow farmers to track their milk samples and get instant feedback on quality parameters through SMS or QR code scanning.

Significance

• The app will benefit the cooperatives, milk unions and processors by streamlining the milk procurement process, reducing manual errors, enhancing transparency and accountability, and improving efficiency and productivity.
• It will facilitate online data entry and verification of milk quantity and quality, digital payment to farmers, online monitoring of chilling centres and processing plants, and generation of reports and analytics for decision-making.
