Context: Police stations in New Delhi district have been certified as ‘Eat Right Campus’ by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)

Details:

  • Eat Right India to ensures that the citizens get safe and nutritious food.
  • Under the initiative, the New Delhi district focused on the health of its personnel across canteens, kitchens and mess in the district.
  • The programme also includes a food and safety audit.

 

'Eat Right Campus'

  • Initiative of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
  • Aims to promote safe, healthy and sustainable food in Schools, universities, colleges, workplaces, hospitals, tea estates etc.
  • The objective of the programme is to improve the health of people and promote socio-economic development of the nation.

 

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)                                

  • Food Safety and Standards Act (2006) established Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
  • FSSAI function under the administrative control of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
  • It Promote Standards for food items and regulate their manufacturing, storage, distribution, sale and import.
  • Its Headquarters is in New Delhi.
  • The Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer are appointed by the Government.
