Context:

The Indian Army has launched the 'EKLAVYA' online digital platform for officer training.

About "Eklavya" platform

The platform was created by the Bhaskaracharya National Institute of Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG-N) with funding from the Directorate General of Information Systems (DGIS).

Bhaskaracharya National Institute of Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG-N) 

It is an Autonomous Scientific Society registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860.

It works under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITy).

It carries out technology development and management, research and development in the field of geospatial technology.

It aims to promote;

  • Continuous professional military education
  • Simplify existing physical courses, enhance them with emerging concepts
  • Prepare officers for specialist appointments
  • Promote domain specialization

It was established under the direction of Headquarters Army Training Command, with the Army War College serving as the sponsor agency.

It aligns with the Indian Army's 2024 theme, the "Year of Technology Absorption," and contributes to the "Decade of Transformation".

About available course on the Platform

Student officers can register for multiple courses at once on the "Eklavya" platform.

The platform has 96 courses delivered by 17 Indian Army Category 'A' Training Establishments.

The "Eklavya" platform hosts three categories of courses:

Pre-course Preparatory Capsules - It aims to provide study material for offline physical courses.

Appointment or assignment-related courses - It assists officers in gaining domain specialization in areas of their choice, which aids in career planning and prepares them for specialist assignments.

Professional Development Suite - It includes courses in strategy, operational art, leadership, organizational behavior, finance, the art of reading, power writing, and emerging technology.
