Context:

The National eGovernance Division (NeGD), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has developed Entity Locker.

About the Entity Locker

It is a secure, cloud-based solution designed to simplify the storage, sharing, and verification of documents for a wide range of entities like large organizations, corporations, MSMEs, trusts, startups, and societies.

It aims to transform how business and organizational documents are managed and verified.

It is a crucial part of India's Digital Public Infrastructure. It aligns with the Union Budget 2024-25’s vision of enhancing digital governance and making business processes smoother.

It is built on a technological framework that integrates with multiple government systems. It offers:

Real-time access and verification of documents via government databases.
Consent-based mechanisms for secure sharing of sensitive information.
Aadhaar-authenticated role-based access management for ensuring accountability.
10 GB of encrypted cloud storage for secure document management.
Legally valid digital signatures to authenticate documents.
