Context:

Gukesh has officially become the world's youngest chess champion. At the age of 18, he became the 18th undisputed champion in history, breaking Garry Kasparov's record of 22 years, 6 months, and 27 days for his first title.

What is the Controversy?

Gukesh currently holds the record for the youngest universally recognised World Chess Champion, but there is a dispute with Ukrainian Grandmaster Ruslan Ponomariov, who won the FIDE World Chess Championship at the age of 18 in 2002, but his victory was controversial, as he won the title through a knockout tournament rather than defeating the defending champion in a direct match.

D Gukesh defeated the previous champion Ding Liren and became the youngest ever world chess champion In the final match in Singapore.
