India to host the International Cooperative Alliance's (ICA) Global Cooperative Conference for the first time in its 130-year history.
The Global Cooperative Conference to be organized in Delhi, on November 25-30, 2024.
The Prime Minister of India to launch the 'United Nations International Year of Cooperatives 2025' at the ICA conference.
The Union Cooperation Minister to preside over the Global Cooperative Conference's inaugural session as the Chief Guest.
More than 100 countries are participating in the event.
The theme of the 2024 conference is ‘Cooperatives Build Prosperity for All,’ with sub-themes including:
The event will be carbon-neutral, with 10,000 peepal trees planted throughout the country.
Only vegetarian food will be served, with no alcohol.
India has 8 lakh cooperatives, making up around 25% of all cooperatives globally. The event will provide India an opportunity to demonstrate the strength of its cooperatives. |

It was founded in 1895 and is one of the world's largest non-governmental organizations, with more than one billion cooperative members.
It has more than 306 member organizations from 105 countries worldwide.

The ICA is the guardian of the Statement on the Cooperative Identity, which includes a definition, 10 values, and 7 operational principles. These are the minimum common elements for all cooperatives across sectors and regions.
