The government implement the "Global Engagement Scheme" to promote India's cultural heritage on a global level.
The Ministry of Culture implemented the "Global Engagement Scheme" to promote India's rich cultural heritage in the global arena.
It promotes people-to-people connections and bilateral cultural contacts through a variety of cultural events organized abroad.
It has three components
The Festival of India (FoI) is organized abroad as part of the Global Engagement Scheme to promote India's cultural heritage.
It includes performances by artists from different cultural fields, including folk music, folk dance, folk theatre, classical and contemporary dance, classical music, theatre, and others.
Folk artists are paid a performance fee of Rs. 35,000/- (to the leader/main artist) and Rs. 7000/- (to the supporting artist) for each performance at the Festival of India.
The scheme's objective is to promote closer friendship and cultural contacts between India and foreign countries by providing grants to Indian Foreign Friendship Cultural Societies in foreign countries to organize cultural programs and activities.
The Contribution Grant aims to promote Indian membership in international organizations such as UNESCO, and the World Heritage Fund, as well as to support Indian participation in and hosting of international conferences.
