The India Skills Report 2025 was released by Wheebox in collaboration with the All-India Council for Technical Education.
It is a detailed study conducted by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) in partnership with Wheebox (a talent evaluation organization) and the All India Council for Technical Education.
It is based on the data from over 6.5 lakh individuals who took the Global Employability Test (G.E.T.) and more than 1,000 organizations across 15 industries.
Nearly 55% of Indian graduates are expected to be employable by 2025, increasing from 51.2% in 2024.
Maharashtra ranks first with 84% employability, followed by Delhi (78%), Karnataka (75%), Andhra Pradesh (72%), Kerala (71%), and Uttar Pradesh (70%).
Management graduates are the most employable, at 78%, followed by engineering (71.5%), Master of Computer Applications (71%), and science graduates (58%). This shows a strong correlation between technical and management education and employability.
Men's employability rate is expected to rise from 51.8% in 2024 to 53.5% in 2025. However, the employability rate for women is expected to fall from 50.9% in 2024 to 47.5% in 2025.
By 2025, 50% of secondary and university students are projected to have received vocational training. This is also important for matching skills to business needs in new fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and green energy, which will boost India's global competitiveness.
