The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) is a non-profit charitable organization registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860
It was set up in 1984 in New Delhi and in 2007, the United Nations (UN) awarded INTACH a special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UNESCO).
It was set up with the aim of creating a membership organization to stimulate and spearhead heritage awareness and conservation in India.
INTACH has become the largest membership organization in India dedicated to conservation.
INTACH has over 228 chapters across the country as well as chapters in Belgium and the United Kingdom (UK).
The INTACH works through its various divisions like Architectural Heritage, Natural Heritage, Art and Material Heritage, Intangible Cultural Heritage, Heritage Education, Chapters, Listing Cell, INTACH Heritage Academy, Heritage Tourism, Heritage Crafts and Community, etc.
