The Odisha government plans to take an international loan from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

Odisha government's plan and controversy

 The Odisha government plans to secure a Rs 734.86 crore loan from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to implement the Odisha Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups Empowerment and Livelihood Improvement Program (OPELIP-II). 

The decision of the government has raised concerns among tribal experts, they question the need for an international loan, especially when the Union government implementing the PM-JANMAN Mission, which includes a significant financial investment in the comprehensive growth of PVTGs. 

Unter the PM-JANMAN Mission, the central government allocated Rs24,104 crore from 2023-24 to 2025-26 to develop PVTGs in 18 states and union territories, with Odisha expected to receive a significant share.
