The National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) has launched the Internet Governance Internship and Capacity Building Scheme.
It is an initiative by the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) to increase awareness and build expertise in Internet governance among Indian citizens.
It prepares participants to engage effectively in global Internet governance processes.
The program aims to nurture talent in Internet governance, enabling participants to address emerging issues and contribute to their resolution.
The program offers a bi-annual internship with two tracks: a six-month internship and a three-month internship.
Interns receive mentorship from experts affiliated with global organizations, retired government officials, and academic faculty.
Interns receive a stipend of ₹20,000 per month and support for conducting outreach programs. They also gain hands-on experience and guidance from industry experts.
It was established as a not-for-profit organization in June 2003 under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
It works to increase Internet penetration in India and manages the Internet ecosystem through services like Internet Exchange Points (IXPs).
