Intrusion detected in State power network: Nitin Raut  

Context: Maharashtra Power Minister Nitin Raut said in the Assembly that 14 ‘trojan horse’ programs had entered Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company.

Details:

• Firewalls of IT and OT servers which are essential for power transmission were affected by these.
• Suspicious codes and software programs which can affect the cyber security ecosystem at the State Load Dispatch Center (SLDC) at Kalva had found its way in the system.
• Repeated attempts were made from blacklisted and suspicious IP addresses to log in to SLDC server, to hack and disrupt the system.
• Report recommended a separation of the IT and OT infrastructure and an updation, password management, enhancement of the web application security and a strengthening of the cyber system of the SLDC.
