Context: Nearly 1.2 tonne of fresh jackfruit from Tripura was for the first time exported to London, in a move that could potentially boost exports of agricultural and processed food products from the northeast.

- It grows in the Western Ghats, in the south, and at scattered locations in the north and east.
- It is eaten as a vegetable when tender, raw, or semi-ripe, and as a fruit when ripe.
- It is state fruit of the Indian states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
