The Prime Minister of India called for preparing a plan to develop Mangarh Dham in Rajasthan as a tribal destination.
Mangarh Dham is a hilly area located in the Banswara district, in Rajasthan.
The area is situated near the Rajasthan-Gujarat boundary.
Mangarh Dham is also known for the tribal people massacred by the British Indian Army in 1913.
Nearly 1,500 Bhil tribals and forest dwellers were killed in the Mangarh hill massacre when the British Indian Army opened fire on the protesters.
The protesters were demanding the abolition of bonded labour system and reducing agricultural taxes imposed by princely states rulers.
The tribes were led by saint Govind Guru.
Prime Minister said that the Mangarh Dham is a shared heritage of the people of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra; the governments of the four States need to work together and prepare a road map to create the memorial site.
The Prime Minister also announced that a memorial will be established at the place as a symbol of the bravery and sacrifice of tribal people.
