• The government is all set to launch its awaited 'Mera Bill Mera Adhikar' scheme, which will reward consumers for demanding and uploading legitimate GST invoices on a mobile app,

Key points

• The scheme involves rewarding individuals for uploading their GST invoices through a mobile application. The goal is to incentivize consumers to request legitimate invoices from sellers during B2C purchases, thereby promoting tax compliance.
• Individuals who upload invoices received from retailers or wholesalers on the app will have the chance to win cash prizes. The cash prizes range from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore on a monthly or quarterly basis.
• The mobile application will be available for both iOS and Android users. Users will be required to upload the invoice along with essential details such as the GSTIN of the seller, invoice number, paid amount, and tax amount. A user can upload up to 25 legitimate invoices in a month, with each invoice requiring a minimum purchase amount of Rs 200.
• The scheme involves more than 500 computerized lucky draws conducted every month, offering prize money worth lakhs of rupees. Additionally, two lucky draws will be conducted quarterly with prize money worth Rs 1 crore.
• The technology platform for the scheme has been developed by the GST Network (GSTN). The scheme is in its final stages and is expected to launch soon.
