The training program aims to empower tribal people, particularly women, by teaching them advanced techniques in pearl spot culture, crab fattening, and clownfish aquaculture.

The National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (NBFGR) organized the training under an agreement with the Department of Tribal Welfare of the State government.

The training aligns with the State government’s ‘Ainthinai’ initiative, which uses a cluster-based approach to tribal development.

About National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (NBFGR)

It is a research institute in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh that studies and preserves fish genetic resources. 

It is part of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). 

It has a public aquarium and a National Fish Museum and Repository. 

It was established in 1983.
