Context:

The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has officially recognized the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe) as an Awarding Body.

Significance of the Step

IN-SPACe will provide innovative training programs that are designed for the evolving needs of the space sector. These programs will train a skilled workforce in areas vital to space missions to expand the country's competitiveness and innovation in the global space industry.

National Occupational Standards (NoS) by NCVET for IN-SPACe

  1. Essentials of Space Technology in the Agriculture Sector
  2. Fundamentals of Orbital Mechanics, Attitude Dynamics, and Space-Based Navigation
  3. Foundations of Mission Design and Avionics Development for Launch Vehicles
  4. Essentials of Satellite Manufacturing
  5. Essentials of Space Data Products and Services
  6. Introduction to Advances in Propulsion Systems for Launch Vehicles, Satellites, and Landing Missions

About NCVET 

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) established NCVET in 2018. 

Its primary responsibilities include recognizing and regulating awarding bodies, assessment agencies, and skill information providers, approving qualifications, and establishing grievance redress systems for recognised bodies. 

Role of NCVET

It is India's national vocational education and training (VET) regulatory body. 

It establishes standards, creates regulations, and oversees the quality of skill-building initiatives across the country. 

It is in charge of recognizing and regulating awarding bodies, assessment agencies, and other VET-related entities, with the goal of improving the quality and outcomes of vocational training to meet industry needs.
