About National Voters day

  • Since 2011, the foundation day of the Election Commission of India, which was formed on this day in 1950, has been commemorated every year on January 25 across the country.
  • The theme, 'Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible, and Participative,' focuses on ECI's dedication to facilitating active voter involvement during elections and making the entire process painless and memorable for all types of voters.
  • Every year, the NVD commemorations remind us of the commission's fundamental commitment to ensure that no voter is left behind.
  • Objectives: To emphasise the value of each vote in a democracy; to stimulate, facilitate, and optimise new voter registration; and to increase voter engagement.
