The NYPS 2.0 web portal allows citizens to participate in the Youth Parliament program of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.

About National Youth Parliament Scheme (NYPS) 2.0

The National Youth Parliament Scheme (NYPS) was launched on November 26, 2019 by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.

The National Youth Parliament Scheme (NYPS) 2.0 aimed at engaging the youth in understanding and participating in democratic processes.

The scheme is designed to strengthen democratic values, promote discipline, and foster tolerance among young citizens while educating them about parliamentary practices, government functioning, and constitutional principles.

Objectives of NYPS 2.0:

  • Strengthen Democracy: To deepen the roots of democracy among the youth.
  • Inculcate Discipline and Tolerance: To encourage healthy habits of discipline and respect for diverse viewpoints.
  • Educate About Parliamentary Practices: To familiarize students with the procedures and functioning of Parliament.
  • Enhance Knowledge of Governance: To improve understanding of government operations and constitutional values.
  • Promote Democratic Living: To inspire youth to lead a democratic way of life.

The NYPS 2.0 web-portal promotes participation in three distinct ways:

  • Institution Participation:
      • Eligibility: Educational institutions can organize Youth Parliament sittings.
      • Categories:
          • Kishore Sabha: For students from classes VI to XII.
          • Tarun Sabha: For undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Group Participation:
      • Eligibility: Groups of citizens can organize Youth Parliament sittings following the portal's guidelines.
  • Individual Participation:
      • Eligibility: Individual citizens can participate by taking a quiz on the theme of ‘Bhartiya Democracy in Action’.
