  • The Prime Minister of India has chaired the Annual General Meeting of the NMML Society.
    • He emphasized encouraging research, and scholarship among the youth and making history more attractive.
    • He also discussed ways to make the PM-Sangrahalaya more popular among youngsters.

Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML)

  • The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) was established in memory of Jawaharlal Nehru.
    • It is located in the Teen Murti House, New Delhi, the official residence of the first Prime Minister of India.
  • It is an autonomous institution under the Union Ministry of Culture.
  • It has four major constituents;
    • A Memorial Museum
    • A library on Modern India
    • A Centre for Contemporary Studies
    • The Nehru Planetarium
  • The library has been designed and developed as a specific research and reference centre on colonial and post-colonial India with its very rich and varied collection of books, journals, photographs and other resource materials on microfilm and microfiche.
  • It has a rich manuscript section.
  • It also acquires and preserves private papers of distinguished individuals and records of political and other non-official organizations, associations and societies that played a significant role in the development of modern India.
    • These archival materials are an important primary source of information for research and are made available to scholars.
  • The NMML aims to contribute to a better understanding of Modern and Contemporary India, and thus serve as a link with the past and the future of India.
