Context: The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has declared that the One Indian Audit & Accounts Department One System (OIOS) will be operational on April 1, 2023.

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) announced that all new audit work in the institution will be conducted only through the application, with the physical paper-based process discontinuing.
- The only exception would be the Defence Audit offices, due to security concerns.
The OIOS roll-out process included work on master data, audit design, audit execution, legacy data migration, knowledge management system, quality assurance/quality control, audit products, communications, and follow-up.
The CAG highlighted the objective of building infrastructure processes for new and emerging fields of Technology, such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, as a mid-term goal over the next five to seven years and developing skills to harness their potential for audit purposes.

It is a comprehensive enterprise-wide IT application.
It is a web-based solution with multilingual support, offline capability, and a mobile app.
Any new audit work at CAG offices will be done solely through OIOS.
All audit work may be done digitally. Offices will no longer have to physically sift through files, and documents can be kept indefinitely.
