Context: The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has declared that the One Indian Audit & Accounts Department One System (OIOS) will be operational on April 1, 2023.

More Information

  • The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) announced that all new audit work in the institution will be conducted only through the application, with the physical paper-based process discontinuing.
    • The only exception would be the Defence Audit offices, due to security concerns.
  • The OIOS roll-out process included work on master data, audit design, audit execution, legacy data migration, knowledge management system, quality assurance/quality control, audit products, communications, and follow-up.
  • The CAG highlighted the objective of building infrastructure processes for new and emerging fields of Technology, such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, as a mid-term goal over the next five to seven years and developing skills to harness their potential for audit purposes.

  • It is a comprehensive enterprise-wide IT application.
  • It is a web-based solution with multilingual support, offline capability, and a mobile app.
  • Any new audit work at CAG offices will be done solely through OIOS.
  • All audit work may be done digitally. Offices will no longer have to physically sift through files, and documents can be kept indefinitely.
