About Horn of Africa (HoA)

The Horn of Africa (HoA), also known as the Somali Peninsula is a large peninsula and geopolitical region in East Africa. It is located on the easternmost part of the African mainland, it is the fourth-largest peninsula in the world. It is composed of Somalia (including the de facto independent Somaliland and Puntland), Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Eritrea.

It is a region of geopolitical and strategic importance since it is situated along the southern boundary of the Red Sea; extending hundreds of kilometers into the Gulf of Aden, Guardafui Channel, and Indian Ocean, it also shares a maritime border with the Arabian Peninsula.

Rivers and Lakes	The Zambezi River is flowing through the country in the southwest. Other major rivers include the Luangwa, Kafue, and Chambeshi. Lakes include Lake Tanganyika and Lake Kariba, which form part of Zambia’s borders.
Climate	Zambia has a tropical climate, with a dry. The country experiences high temperatures and humidity.
Natural Resources	The country has deposits of cobalt, zinc, and gemstones, as well as fertile soil suitable for agriculture.
Vegetation	The vegetation in Zambia includes savannas, grasslands, and forests. The northern part of the country has tropical rainforests.
Biodiversity	Zambia has rich biodiversity, including wildlife like elephants, lions, leopards, and a variety of bird species. The country is known for its national parks, such as South Luangwa and Kafue National Park, which are home to a diverse range of animals and plants.
Mountain Ranges	The Muchinga Mountains, located in the eastern part of Zambia, are the highest mountain range.
