Details
- The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) subsidy of 200 rupees each for 14.2 kg LPG cylinders was extended for an additional year by the government in response to the rising prices of petroleum products in the international market.
- The subsidy will be given for up to 12 refills per year.
- The decision will directly benefit 9.6 crore women.
- This will cost the government Rs7,680 crore in 2023–2024.
- According to the Government press release, “there has been a significant rise in the price of LPG on the global market as a result of numerous geopolitical factors. It is crucial to protect PMUY beneficiaries from these high LPG prices.”
