  • Recently, The Pratibimb Module has been instrumental in the arrest of 6046 accused.
  • It also has identified 17185 linkages & it processed 36296 cyber investigation assistance requests as reported in the Lok Sabha.

About Pratibimb Module

  • Type: it is a Geographic Information System (GIS) based software.
  • It was Launched by Union Home Ministry's Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C).

Objective:

  • Its Purpose is to assist law enforcement agencies (LEAs) including state police forces in mapping cybercriminals in real time & dismantling their networks.

Key Features:

  • Mobile numbers involved in cybercrimes are projected across the country on a GIS map.
  • The software allows LEAs & service providers to view real time locations of mobile numbers associated with criminal activities.

Samanvaya Platform

About Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C)

  • It was established Under Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to address cybercrime issues in a coordinated & comprehensive manner.
  • Location: New Delhi.

Functions of I4C:

  1. Nodal Point: it acts as a central hub in the fight against cybercrime.
  2. R&D Activities: it identifies research needs of LEAs & collaborates with academia and research institutes for developing new technologies & forensic tools.
  3. Prevention: it focuses on preventing the misuse of cyberspace by extremist or terrorist groups.
  4. Legal Amendments: it suggests changes to cyber laws to keep pace with evolving technologies.
  5. International Coordination: it manages Mutual Legal Assistance Treaties (MLAT) for cybercrime cooperation with other countries.

  • It brings together academia, industry, public, & government entities to combat cybercrime.
  • Cyber Crime Volunteers Program: it engages citizens passionate about serving the nation in the fight against cybercrime.
