Portugal is the westernmost country in Europe. It is located on the Iberian Peninsula, and shares borders with Spain to the north and east, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west and south.
The land in Portugal is split into two main parts by the Tagus River. In the north, the land is hilly and rugged, while in the south, it’s flatter with rolling plains. Northern Portugal has mountains and fertile land, but southern Portugal is drier and more open.
Portugal also owns two islands in the Atlantic: Madeira and Azores.
Slovakia is a landlocked country, located in Central Europe.
It borders the Czech Republic and Austria to the west, Poland to the north, Ukraine to the east and Hungary to the south.
Slovakia is mostly mountainous, with about 80% of the land being 750 meters or higher above sea level.
The northern and central parts of Slovakia are covered in forests and mountains, while the southern regions have lower hills and plains.
The northern and central regions are dominated by the Carpathian Mountains, including the High Tatra Mountains with the highest peak, Gerlachovský Peak.
