Pyramids Of Giza, Egypt
- Built in the early 26th century B.C, these Pyramids are situated in outskirts of Cairo, the capital of Egypt and are considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
- They were constructed over a period of about 27 years, and believed to be oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
- These three pyramids were erected on a rocky plateau on the west bank of the Nile River near Al-Jzah (Giza) in northern Egypt.
- Out of several wonders of ancient world these are the ones that have remained largely intact.
- In 1979, the ancient ruins of the Memphis area were collectively designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. These ruins include the Pyramids of Giza (Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure),.
- They belong to the 4th-dynasty of the old kingdom and the Great Pyramid of Giza is the largest Egyptian pyramid.
- It served as the tomb of Pharaoh Khufu, a king of same the Fourth Dynasty.
