Context: Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways launched the App Version of the National Logistics Portal (Marine) ‘Sagar-Setu’.

• The app is designed to include features such as a login module, a service catalogue, a common application format, a letter of credit, a bank guarantee, certification, and track and trace, among other things.

Advantages for Traders

• Increase convenience by reducing approval and compliance turnaround times.
• Improve visibility and tracking of activities.

Advantages for Service Providers

• Assist in the tracking of records and transactions provided.
• Get service request notifications.

Significance

• It will give real-time information on operations that are normally unavailable to importers, exporters, and customs brokers, such as vessel-related information, gate, container freight stations, and transactions.
• It also permits digital transactions for payments necessary for the import and export clearance procedure, such as container freight station costs, shipping line charges, transportation charges, and so on.
