Context: The Ministry of Tourism under Swadesh Darshan scheme has sanctioned 76 projects under 13 thematic circuits including ‘Buddhist theme’for development of tourism infrastructure in the country.

Swadesh Darshan scheme

• This is a central sector scheme. - 100% funded by Central Government of India.
• The funding available for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of Central Public Sector Undertakings and Corporate Sector is also used in this scheme.
• The scheme aims to promote, develop and harness the potential of tourism in India.
