Recent development in India-China relations

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra resumption

India and China have decided to resume the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in the summer of 2025. Relevant mechanisms will finalize the modalities for resuming the Yatra under existing agreements.

Direct air services

Both countries have agreed in principle to restore direct air services. Technical authorities from both nations will negotiate an updated framework to promote these flights to strengthen connectivity and promote tourism and business exchanges.

Trans-border river

India and China will hold an early meeting of the Expert Level Mechanism to discuss the resumption of hydrological data sharing and other cooperation related to trans-border rivers to manage water resources effectively and address concerns about environmental impacts and water flow management.

Media and think-tank exchanges

Both countries have committed to promoting exchanges between journalists, think tanks, researchers to improve mutual understanding and cooperation in media and academia, promoting a more informed perspective on bilateral issues.
