About the H-1B visa
The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa issued by the United States to foreign workers in specialty occupations. These occupations require a high level of specialized knowledge and demand at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in a specific field.
The visa allows U.S. employers to hire foreign professionals in fields such as information technology (IT), engineering, healthcare, mathematics, physical sciences, and other highly specialized professions.
The H-1B visa is initially granted for up to three years. It can be extended for an additional three years, making the maximum duration six years.
