About Veer Bal Diwas

Veer Bal Diwas is observed annually on December 26th to commemorate the martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh Ji's two younger sons, Sahibzada Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji.

The day honours their ultimate sacrifice, when they were sealed alive in a wall by Mughal authorities in 1705.

The Prime Minister declared the day on January 9, 2022, during Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Prakash Purab, to honour their courage and martyrdom.

Who were the Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji?

Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji, along with their grandmother, were captured after the Battle of Chamkaur in 1705. They were brought to Sirhind, where Nawab Wazir Khan sentenced them to death.

Despite being young, they displayed incredible bravery. On December 12, 1705, they were sealed alive within a wall. Their martyrdom is a symbol of exceptional bravery and sacrifice.
