Factors Influencing Rankings

  • The index score improved globally to a 15-year high as the world recovered from the pandemic.

  • crises, and an uptick in crimes in some cities.
  • Western European cities slipped in rankings due to increased instances of workers' strikes, while cities in Asia and the Middle East made gains.

Least Livable Cities:

  • Algiers, Algeria; Tripoli, Libya; and Damascus, Syria were ranked as the three least livable cities in the world.
  • Damascus consistently ranks low, showing no improvement in its livability scores.
