- The Mo BUS service of Odisha state has been recognised by the United Nations (UNs) as one of 10 global recipients of the annual Public Service Awards for 2022.
- The Bus service was awarded for its role in promoting gender-responsive public services to achieve the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).
- Mo Bus service was launched in 2018 to "transform the urban public transport sector through the use of smart technology.
- The main objective of the initiative was to ensure quality services to achieve customer satisfaction.
- It provides an integrated, reliable and inclusive bus service system.
- The Bus has services like;
- Live tracking
- Travel planner
- On-board Wi-Fi
- Digital announcements
- Surveillance cameras
- Electronic ticketing
- An e-rickshaw system called ‘Mo E-Ride’ was also introduced to ensure last-mile connectivity.
- It reduced pollution by 30-50%.
- It Promoted gender equality and ensured the socio-economic development of the marginalized section.
- Nearly 40% of Mo Bus conductors are women.
- About 100% of Mo E-Ride drivers are women, transgender people, and people from disadvantaged communities.
- It increased women’s participation in the workforce.
- It made women riders feel safer.

- It aims to reward the innovative achievements and contributions made toward public service.
