Context:
- Recently, the Prime Minister of India welcomed the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team on the day of the resurrection.
About NDRF:
- NDRF Raising Day is celebrated on January 19th to commemorate its founding.
- Founded in 2006, NDRF is the world's largest organization specializing in disaster relief.
- It reports to the Ministry of Home Affairs under the Secretary's overall direction, control and direction.
Organization:
- Currently, NDRF consists of 15 battalions of BSF, CISF, CRCF, ITBP, SSB and Assam Rifles.
- Each battalion has 18 self-contained, professional search and rescue teams, each with 45 personnel, including engineers, technicians, electricians, dog units, medics / emergency medical units.
- A multi-skilled, high-tech unit that effectively responds to all types of natural and man-made disasters, including building collapses, landslides, catastrophic floods, and hurricanes.
- Strategically deployed throughout the country according to the country's vulnerability profile.
- The swift and effective response of NDRF to the 2011 Japan Mie Disaster and the 2015 Nepal Earthquake was celebrated around the world.
