- The Chief Minister of Karnataka has announced the reintroduction of the Yeshaswini Scheme.
- CM has indicated that the scheme will be implemented from 2nd October.
- The State Government is in the process to find the mechanism that needs to be worked out to ensure the smooth implementation of the Scheme.
- The State government also planning to increase the Annual Health covers to Rs10 lakh for Yeshaswini beneficiaries.
- Yeshaswini beneficiaries get the benefits of pre-admission diagnostic and treatment costs.
Yeshaswini scheme
- Yeshaswini scheme was launched in 2003 by the Karnataka State government.
- It was one of the largest self-funded healthcare schemes in the country.
- It covered more than 800 defined surgical procedures.
- Rural beneficiaries were eligible to get cashless treatment costing up to ₹2 lakh every year with an annual contribution of ₹250.
- Urban beneficiaries were eligible to get treatment costing up to ₹2.5 lakh with an annual contribution of ₹710.
